Meet the Authors: The New Birds of Alberta Field Guide

Neil Zeller is hosting an incredible, free event with David R. Scott and Gavin McKinnon, authors of the long-awaited updated edition of the Birds of Alberta field guide. As a thank-you to the birding and photography communities that have supported Neil's work over the years, this will be a fun and casual evening with binocular and long lens demos from The Camera Store, books available for purchase and signing, plus refreshments, conversation, and, of course, good company!

If you've spent any time birding in Alberta, you know the original Birds of Alberta field guide. It's been on the dashboards, in the vest pockets, and on the bookshelves of birders across this province for years. David R. Scott and Gavin McKinnon have written an updated edition! This full-colour, comprehensive new edition covers more than 300 species across the prairies, foothills, mountains, boreal forests, and urban spaces of Alberta. The New Birds of Alberta Field Guide includes updated ranges and populations, recent taxonomy changes, and the depth of knowledge that can only come from two authors who have spent years in the field across every corner of this province.

Meet the Authors: The New Birds of Alberta Field Guide is a relaxed, come-and-go gathering. No presentations, no schedule, come as you are, stay as long as you like. Just good people, great conversation, and two authors who genuinely love Alberta's birds. The Camera Store will be there with a selection of binoculars and long-lens demos to handle and explore. Whether you've been thinking about your first pair of binoculars or you're curious what a serious telephoto feels like in your hands, this is a chance to have a look at the latest tech and gear. David and Gavin will have at least 100 copies on hand for purchase and signing, and a portion of the proceeds will go directly to Bird Studies Canada.
