Development Announcement of New Sigma AF Cine Line

Two new Sigma lenses are in the works! Sigma has announced the exciting development of the Sigma 28-45mm T2 FF and the Sigma 28-105mm T3 FF. These innovative lenses are the first from Sigma's new AF Cine Line for full format Cine cameras which features autofocus compatibility, marking a significant advancement in film production technology. Both lenses build on the superior optical systems found in Sigma’s Art lenses, delivering outstanding image quality, precise autofocus, and exceptional tracking abilities. Designed with the ergonomic features essential for professional cinema work, these lenses are set to make a notable impact on the industry. Available in both L-Mount and Sony E-Mount, the Sigma 28-45mm T2 FF is slated for release in November 2025, while the Sigma 28-105mm T3 FF will follow in Spring 2026.

The Sigma 28-45mm T2 FF and the Sigma 28-105mm T3 FF, as part of the AF Cine Line, showcase Sigma’s cutting-edge technology, enhancing the range of visual storytelling tools available to filmmakers. Drawing inspiration from the highly praised still lenses, the Sigma 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN | Art and the Sigma 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN | Art, these new lenses deliver stunning resolution and beautiful bokeh, regardless of the focal length or focus distance. They also provide a crisp, clear image with minimal flare and ghosting, making them ideal for a wide range of filming scenarios.

Maintaining the exceptional performance and dependability of Sigma’s Art lenses, the AF Cine Line integrates features specifically tailored for cinema use. These include a focus ring with limited rotation, industry-standard 0.8M pitch gears, and an aperture ring that operates smoothly without clicks, all designed to meet the rigorous demands of professional filmmaking. The lenses are equipped with a high-response linear motor (HLA), enabling them to capture fast-paced action, swift focus changes during gimbal or handheld shooting, and unexpected moments in documentary filmmaking with precision and reliability, providing indispensable support for filmmakers in a variety of shooting environments.

The integration of these advanced features ensures that the new Sigma AF Cine Line lenses are not only versatile but also reliable in delivering high-quality results in numerous filming situations. With their impending release, these lenses promise to set new standards in the world of professional cinema production, opening up fresh avenues for creative expression and technical excellence.
