Building on Canon's renowned 5-series and 1-series legacy, this pro-level hybrid camera delivers outstanding performance for advanced photographers, videographers, content creators, and hybrid enthusiasts shooting across portraits, events, wildlife, sports, and social media production. Then, to make matters sweeter, Dave and Evelyn got their hands on this exciting new camera for a TCSTV First Impressions review, so let's take a peek!
The new Canon EOS R6 Mark III merges high-resolution imaging, cutting-edge video features, and dependable design to cater to hybrid creators. At the heart is a 32.5-megapixel full-frame sensor that enables electronic shutter shooting at up to 40fps with 20 frames of pre-continuous shooting. It also supports mechanical shutter/electronic first curtain shooting at 12fps. To enhance hybrid shooting, the R6 Mark III utilizes CFexpress Type B and SD cards for improved performance. When it comes to the advanced video features, the camera includes 7K 59.94p RAW Light recording, 4K 119.8p, Slow and Fast mode, and 7K 30p "Open Gate" mode for more vertical resolution, compositional flexibility and post-production stabilization.
Additional highlights include oversampled 4K 60p/30p (with 7K oversampling for 30p), Canon Log 2 with up to 15 stops of dynamic range, waveform monitoring, and advanced Register People Priority and Focus Accel/Decel algorithms inspired by Cinema EOS cameras, along with white balance and operational improvements. Perfect for professionals and enthusiasts alike, this camera is ideal for portrait, wedding, and event photographers, as well as birding, landscape, and aspiring videographers moving up from smartphones.
