Introducing the new, groundbreaking Sigma 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN Art, bringing prime-lens-quality sharpness and clarity in the form of a zoom lens. In addition to bringing unprecedented brightness to a speedy, portable and versatile Art lens, the Sigma 28-45mm F1.8 delivers sharpness and clarity comparable to that of a prime lens throughout its entire zoom range. Opening a new chapter in innovative history, the Sigma 28-45mm F1.8 is ready to inspire filmmakers and still photographers alike to push the creative envelope.
The new Sigma 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN Art boasts the title of the world's first full-frame, F1.8 maximum aperture zoom lens. The maximum F1.8 aperture was once a privilege reserved only for prime lenses, but now provides users the opportunity to expose hand-held in low light and produce beautiful bokeh, while enjoying the flexibility of a zoom.
Thanks to Sigma's advanced technology, the utilization of an inner zoom mechanism allows the overall length of the lens to remain constant when the focal length or focus distance changes. This makes the lens incredibly easy to use when shooting hand-held, highly stable when mounted on a tripod or gimbal, and more resistant to dust and water contamination. The inner zoom mechanism also allows for a minimum focusing distance of 30cm across the entire zoom range, and a filter size of 82mm, yet the lens only weighs 960g. This combination makes the lens exceptionally portable and versatile for handheld or gimbal setups.
With a minimum focusing distance of 30cm constantly across the entire zoom range, and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4 at the telephoto end, the Sigma 28-45mm F1.8 provides excellent close-up shooting capabilities. With precise focus, users can easily get their desired shot, even in the most confined of spaces, without worry.
Optical aberration is meticulously corrected throughout the zoom range thanks to the effective arrangement of 5 SLD elements and 3 aspherical elements. Axial chromatic aberration is also suppressed with the use of advanced coatings, which allows the lens to produce clear images, even in backlit environments, while focus breathing is thoroughly suppressed, bringing expressive power to filmmakers and photographers. Advanced features of the lens include high-speed and adaptable AF which uses an HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) to combine accelerated focusing speed with exquisite precision, a durable weather-resistant structure, a de-clickable aperture ring, smooth manual focusing and two on-barrel AFL buttons, all features combine to create a versatile photographic tool capable of responding to any situation.
