Borders Casting Call

Calling all creatives! Do you want to work on a short film? Falling Upwards Film is having a Crew Call for their upcoming short film, Borders. With a variety of positions available from grips and gaffers to production and costume designers, hair and makeup artists, and even Assistant Director, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a live-action short film.

About The Film: 

Borders is a film inspired by the atmosphere of Wong Kar Wai's In the Mood for Love, combined with the heartbreak and romance found in Bollywood films like Rockstar.

Genre: Romantic drama
Length: 18-20 minute short film
Premise: Rani is a guarded yet deeply compassionate woman, balancing responsibility in a broken home with a quiet hope for something more. After crossing paths with Zameer, an international student facing imminent deportation, at a chaotic charity event, they forge an intense, fleeting romance, finding brief solace in each other before their inevitable separation.

The film will be told in an expressionistic style with a focus on detailed production design, textured cinematography, and masterful performances. 

Production & Positions:

Location: Calgary, Alberta
Shoot: 5 days, late July to early August (exact dates TBD)
Prep: 1-2 days (department-specific as needed)
Compensation: Paid, Non-Union
Requirements: Punjabi language is an asset (not mandatory)
