Chris will share his extensive field experience, including recent expeditions to Jasper National Park right in our backyard, to break down exactly how to approach animal behaviour, field craft, and the sweeping landscapes they inhabit when shooting motion. You will learn the optimal camera settings for capturing high-quality video from fast paced wildlife encounters to environmental scenes.
Chris will demonstrate these techniques using modern Canon hybrid systems like the EOS R5, EOS R5 C, and Cinema EOS C80, and will give you a real world look at how lenses like the Canon RF 400mm f2.8 and the Canon RF 100-500mm perform in unpredictable environments. The concepts apply to any camera system, and shooters of all brands are welcome!
The session will then go from the field to the final edit, covering the complete workflow. Chris will discuss crucial file management, robust backup strategies, and basic editing concepts to help you build confidence in post-production.
Whether you are building a portfolio or simply want to document wildlife and the outdoors in new ways, you will leave with practical techniques to elevate your visual storytelling.
