I have been using Sony RX100 cameras for many years, and the Sony NP-BX1 battery has consistently exceeded my expectations.
According to the official specifications, battery life is fairly modest, but in my real-world experience, the NP-BX1 lasts noticeably longer than the manufacturer claims. I don't know exactly why, but I regularly get more shots from a charge than I would expect based on the published numbers.
Whenever I leave home with my RX100, I carry two batteries: one in the camera and one spare in my pocket. It's simply part of my routine. However, despite carrying a spare battery every day, I can count on one hand the number of times I've actually needed to use both batteries during a single day of shooting.
That says a lot about the NP-BX1's real-world performance.
The battery is reliable, charges quickly, holds its charge well when stored, and has never given me any problems. As a photographer, reliability is just as important as capacity, and this battery delivers both.
After years of use, I have complete confidence in the Sony NP-BX1. If you own an RX100-series camera, I strongly recommend having at least one spare, although you may find, as I did, that you rarely need it.
