Accurate AF and AF/AE tracking for SSM, SAM and motorless lenses
The LA-EA5 supports all A-mount lenses4, including models such as the Sonnar T* 135 mm F1.8 ZA and Planar T* 85 mm F1.4 ZA that do not have internal motors. Full support is provided for focal plane phase-detection AF, Real-time Eye AF (human and animal), Real-time Tracking and continuous AF/AE tracking2 at up to 11 frames per second3.
Compact cylindrical design and comfortable operation
A newly developed compact AF drive unit and aperture drive unit are packaged in a sleek, high-performance cylindrical mount adapter. The adapter matches the diameter of the A-mount so that nothing protrudes from the bottom of the mount when used on a compact E-mount body, ensuring comfortable hold and operation even when the camera is mounted on a vertical grip.
2. For AE tracking, the aperture is fixed for the first frame while shutter speed and ISO are used for exposure adjustment.
3. Maximum fps is 10 fps with the α7R IV, α9, and α9 II, and 11 fps with the α6600. Continuous shooting speed may change depending on the attached lens.
4. Smooth Transition Focus lenses are manual focus only. Teleconverters are not supported.
