SIGMA DG Lenses are High-performance SLR lenses with full-frame sensor coverage Designed to deliver the ultimate in performance on full-frame digital SLRs, Sigma DG lenses also bring out the best in 35mm SLR film cameras and APS-C size DSLRs. Remarkable image rendition is achieved by comprehensive correction of aberrations and distortions. Special care is taken to thoroughly minimize colour fringing caused by lateral chromatic aberration, which is particularly noticeable at high resolution in digital photography. DG lenses can offer both high contrast and subtle tonal gradations, unmarred by flare and ghosting, thanks to Sigma's digitally optimized optical design and original Super Multi-Layer Coating technology, which suppress reflections between image sensor and lens surfaces. Large image circles assure ample peripheral bright- ness to prevent vignetting.

The HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures a silent, high-speed AF function. By optimizing the AF algorithm, smoother AF is achieved. Also, this lens offers full-time MF by rotating the focus ring of the lens while auto focusing. Without changing the AF/MF Focus Mode Switch, it allows faster focus adjustment.

The Technical Details:
The lens incorporates two FLD and one SLD glass elements, while the optimized power distribution helps minimize sphericalaberration and axial chromatic aberration. The optical system also effectively minimizes transverse chromatic aberration, whichcan affect the edges of the shots taken in the telephoto range. In addition, image quality remains exceptional when the lens isused with a SIGMA Tele Converter (sold separately).

The Optical Stabilizer (OS) system features an acceleration sensor to deliver even more precise performance and up toapproximately four stops of stabilization. Two OS modes are available: Mode 1 for general photography and Mode 2 formotor sports and other applications requiring panning. In Mode 2, the acceleration sensor teams up with the Intelligent OSand its updated stabilization algorithm to deliver effective stabilization while you move the camera horizontally, vertically, ordiagonally—regardless of the position of the lens. This feature helps ensure effective panning and outstanding capture of moving subjects.

In addition to AF/MF, MO (Manual Override) is incorporated as one of the options of the focus mode switch. By setting itto the MO position, it switches to manual focus by rotating the focus ring even during continuous AF. With AF position,standard full-time manual focus is available. Using the optional SIGMA USB DOCK, it is possible to adjust the MO position’ssensitivity to switch to manual focus.
