The Sony RX10 V Has Officially Arrived

The wait is finally over! Sony has unveiled the new RX10 V! As the fifth iteration of the RX10 all-in-one camera series, it continues to offer the same resolution and integrated lens design, but with a stunning wide-angle to super-telephoto, large-aperture ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar T* 24-600mm F2.4-4.0 lens, and an enhanced AI-powered Real-time Recognition Auto Focus for more accurate subject tracking. Capture up to 30 frames per second without any blackout, with full Auto Focus/Auto Exposure support for shooting fast-moving and unpredictable subjects. A powerful 20.1 megapixel 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS™ CMOS sensor combined with the BIONZ XR™ processing engine powers both stunning stills and up to 4K 120p video, making the RX10 V an ideal companion for travel, wildlife, and sports photographers.

Designed for versatility, the new RX10 V suits everything from action-packed sports to wildlife photography. Its ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar T* F2.4-4.0 zoom lens spans 24mm to 600mm (25x) and includes optical image stabilization for sharp results. Macro enthusiasts will appreciate its ability to focus as close as 3cm (1.18 in) at 24mm and 72cm (28.3 in) at 600mm for tele-macro shooting. The BIONZ XR™ processing engine effectively reduces noise at mid-to-high ISO settings, ensuring sharp images in indoor or low-light conditions while capturing realistic details in colours, textures, and subjects like skin tones, landscapes, and greenery. With twelve Creative Look presets, you can fine-tune your photos to match your personal style. The system works in harmony with a 20.1-megapixel (approximately effective) 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS™ CMOS sensor, and the lens’s wide aperture allows for smooth background blur.

The standout feature of the RX10 V is its advanced AI-powered subject recognition paired with high-speed capabilities. Its real-time Recognition AF uses an AI-processing unit, enabling the camera to identify a variety of subjects, including people, animals, birds, insects, vehicles, trains, and planes. The Auto mode takes it a step further by automatically determining the type of subject for you. A simple touch activates Real-time Tracking, allowing the camera to follow the subject reliably while you concentrate on framing your shot.
Capturing fast action and fleeting moments is effortless, thanks to up to 30 fps blackout-free continuous shooting. When you engage the Continuous Shooting Speed Boost, you can achieve even higher burst rates for sequences. With up to 60 AF/AE calculations per second, you’re guaranteed precise focus and exposure, ensuring consistent performance when photographing wildlife, sports, or any rapidly shifting scenes from start to finish.

Shoot stunning 4K 120p video and capture 4K slow motion at up to 5x with incredible clarity. The Active Mode stabilization provides smooth handheld shooting without hassle, while the Multi Interface (MI) Shoe™ supports clean digital audio recording when used with compatible microphones. Thanks to the AI subject recognition, Auto Framing ensures the subject remains centred while filming. Tools like S-Cinetone™ bring rich cinematic colour immediately, and S-Log3 allows for dynamic adjustments in post-production. You can even add up to 16 user LUTs and monitor the graded look while shooting in Log.

The RX10 V’s design takes inspiration from the Alpha™ mirrorless lineup, mirroring its ergonomic button setup and grip for more user-friendly handling. A large .5-type Quad-VGA OLED viewfinder with approximately 3.68 million dots and 0.78x magnification provides exceptional clarity, whether you’re shooting in bright daylight or indoor settings. Its 3.0-type LCD monitor, now improved with roughly 1.62 million dots, ensures every detail is displayed clearly.
Designed to endure tough conditions, the camera offers a dust- and moisture-resistant design. Fast, steady file sharing is supported by Wi-Fi (2.4/5 GHz), while USB Type-C® ensures high-speed data transfers and smooth 4K 30p live streaming. Connect the RX10 V to the Creators’ App on your smartphone for seamless file sharing, remote camera operation, and easy software updates.
