Fujifilm has excitedly announced the first GFX System digital camera with a fixed lens - the one and only Fujifilm GFX100RF digital camera! Ready to create incredible images, this new camera exudes style with its classic rangefinder design and premium tactile feel, offering a classic photography experience, with its large format sensor, wide dynamic range, and low noise floor delivering the ultimate image quality. Boasting a new Aspect Ratio dial provides instant access to nine compositional formats, many from legendary Fujifilm analog cameras, plus 20 different Film Simulations, you can harness Fujifilm’s 90 years of experience in colour science to deliver outstanding in-camera looks suited to every subject. Beautifully engineered with a precision 35mm lens on a GFX sensor, the GFX 100RF offers the equivalent angle of view of a 28mm lens on a 35mm format camera, the GFX100RF is excellent for hand-held shooting, bringing users exceptional quality that has never been so portable!
The new Fujifilm GFX100RF is a large-format digital camera, yet it is compact enough, weighing just 735g (25.9 oz), to fit into a pocket or small bag, making it the ultimate everyday carrying camera. A true tactile tour de force, the camera's rangefinder-style design offers machined aluminum dials and a premium handling experience. Its offset electronic viewfinder (EVF) is not only reminiscent of the X100VI and GFX50R but is rooted in some of the most loved 20th-century photographic pioneers, giving a premium viewing experience. The EVF boasts a high-magnification and definition with a finder magnification of 0.84x and 5.76 million dots. When using the viewfinder, it suppresses the image flow and distortion that occurs due to misalignment of the pupil position, achieving high visibility.
The GFX100RF also features a digital teleconverter selector/lever on the front of the camera to select the angle of view. From its native 35mm focal length (28mm in 35mm format), the angle of view can be switched in three steps to 45mm (36mm in 35mm format), 63mm (50mm in 35mm format), and 80mm (63mm in 35mm format), allowing users to respond flexibly to a variety of image creation situations. A new user interface has also been added that optimizes the placement of icons to match the 3:2 aspect ratio of the new 3.15-inch 2.1-megapixel 2-axis tilt LCD monitor. Furthermore, the camera is weather-resistant when the supplied adapter ring and a compatible filter are attached, so it’s perfect for image-making in all conditions.
Boasting exciting, modern features, the GFX100RF is the first Fujifilm camera to feature an Aspect Ratio dial. Positioned on the back of the camera, it provides rapid access to nine image formats, many of which have appeared on previous analog Fujifilm models. These ratios include 4:3 from the legendary Fujifilm GX680, 65:24 from the panoramic Fujifilm TX-1 and 1:1 from Fujifilm’s first camera, the FUJICA Six. A new Surround View function displays the area outside the image range as a semi-transparent frame, which serves as a guide that coincides with the selected aspect ratio. This offers users the ability to easily switch between these two viewing modes by using a lever on the camera body, giving an experience that can suit the needs of different creative perspectives.
The GFX100RF wouldn't be a Fujifilm camera without Fujifilm's legacy film-inspired looks. Inspired by Fujifilm’s 90 years of experience in colour science, the camera offers 20 Film Simulations to deliver unique in-camera looks and unrivalled creativity.
At the heart of the Fujifilm GFX100RF is a 102-megapixel CMOS II HS large format sensor that is almost 70% larger than full-frame, and an X-Processor 5 image processing engine, offering unsurpassed image quality that GFX Systems are renowned for. This sensor features evolved pixel structure and micro-lenses that enhances dynamic range and low-light performance, as well as providing further improvements in peripheral image quality and autofocus (AF) accuracy. Equipped with an AF prediction function and face/eye AF, the camera can recognize a wide variety of subjects, such as animals, vehicles, birds, and airplanes. In video recording, the tracking AF function easily tracks the subject with touch operation.
The camera can create 16-bit RAW image files for stunning detail and colour, plus it provides a wide dynamic range, low noise with native ISO down to 80, and outstanding sharpness. Multiple image file formats are also available, including 10-bit HEIF. It also supports smooth 4K/30P 4:2:2 10-bit video recording at 30 frames per second. In addition to enabling content creation with a wide dynamic range and low noise, the 13+stop “F-Log2” provides higher flexibility in post-production.
Designed exclusively for the GFX100RF is the new FUJINON 35mmF4 fixed focal length lens. Delivering stunning sharpness from center to edges, the fixed 35mm lens offers an angle of view equivalent to 28mm on full frame sensors and features a close focus of just 20cm (7.8 inches), making it ideal for a wide range of scenes, including landscapes, travel, snapshots, and portraits. The GFX100RF achieves high-resolution performance by suppressing spherical aberration and field curvature, through a lens configuration of 10 elements in 8 groups, including 2 aspherical lenses. A newly developed nano-GI coating optimized for lenses with large curvature has been applied to the lens to suppress internal reflections even in the peripheral areas of the lens.
With the GFX100RF's resolution density of the sensor, digital teleconverter options for 45mm, 63mm and 80mm are also available, expanding compositional possibilities. Meanwhile, by adopting a leaf shutter system instead of a focal plane shutter system, the lens’s leaf shutter provides near-silent operation, minimal sensor shake, and flash sync at all mechanical shutter speeds, all while reducing size, further expanding flexibility and creative expression.
For ultimate control, the GFX100RF features the first internal 4-stop neutral density filter in a GFX System camera, offering greater control over optical exposure. Ideal for use in bright conditions when a scenario demands a wider aperture or slower shutter speed, the filter neither degrades nor colours the image, instead providing great flexibility to create the image how you see it.
Accessories included with the GFX100RF are the PRF-49 protective filter, which when used in combination with the dedicated adapter ring, achieves dust and drip resistance, making it safe to use even in outdoor environments where it may be exposed to light rain or flying dust. It also includes a precision-machined aluminum lens hood and a dedicated adapter ring, combining a sophisticated design with light-shielding properties, plus a stylish rope-type shoulder strap a first for the GFX System, complementing the camera’s sophisticated design.
