Sony announced the lightweight, pocket-sized digital camera that’s perfectly designed for vloggers, the Sony ZV-1! The ZV-1 was thoughtfully produced to keep up with the demands of video creators. Combining easy-to-use features with Sony’s renowned technology, the ZV-1 brings content creators of all skill levels and styles, uncompromising quality!
Jumping right into the fun stuff, the ZV-1 has some really interesting features that give content creators more flexibility. The new Background Defocus function gives users the opportunity to quickly switch between two modes of background Bokeh (background blur). Located on top of the camera for easy accessibility, this Bokeh button rapidly adjusts the optical aperture between more and less background defocusing blur, allowing the user to adjust in just the click of a button.
Another cool feature is the new Product Showcase Setting. This allows for quick and smooth focus transitions between the subject’s face and an object in front of the lens, making it super easy to shoot product reviews and other similar video content. Extending from this, the ZV-1 includes Sony’s advanced autofocus (AF) allowing it to lock on and track subjects with high accuracy and speed while recording.
Now, this camera wouldn’t be the perfect vlogging camera without the new Face Priority autoexposure (AE) function! This function detects and prioritizes the subject’s face and adjusts the exposure to ensure the face is depicted at an ideal brightness in any environment. With the addition of new advanced colour science to optimize skin tones, the ZV-1 will make you look good in any light at any time.
The ZV-1 is also well-equipped to produce reliable and versatile audio. With an onboard mic that features Sony’s latest Directional 3-capsule Mic, it will capture forward-direction audio while minimizing background noise, especially in selfie mode. It also comes with a mic jack (3.5mm) and Multi-Interface Shoe™ (MI shoe) making it easy to connect a wide range of external microphones.
Taking a look at the general specs, the ZV-1 is compact and lightweight (approx. 294g). It is the first Sony compact camera with a side-opening, flip-out, tiltable LCD Screen, adjoining a comfortable grip with great ergonomics. The ZV-1 features a 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS® CMOS image sensor with a DRAM chip and 24-70mm F1.8-2.8 ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar T* large-aperture lens, with in-body image stabilization (IBIS), and many advanced video features, including 4K movie recording.
