In the early morning hours of Thursday, October 23rd, 2025, The Camera Store in Calgary, Alberta, was broken into at approximately 2:50 a.m. MDT. Surveillance footage shows the individual forcefully entering the premises and targeting two of our high-end Nikon and Sony showcases inside the store.
The thief filled a hockey roller bag with thousands of dollars’ worth of professional cameras and lenses, then fled the scene. Beyond the significant loss of nearly $100,000 CAD in inventory, the break-in caused extensive damage to our display cases and the building, resulting in costly repairs for our independently owned business.
We are devastated by this act that not only impacts our staff and customers but also our ability to serve the local photography community.
To assist in identifying and apprehending the suspect, The Camera Store is offering a $5,000 in-store credit toward a shopping spree for information that leads to a conviction.
Anyone with information or who witnessed suspicious activity around our location during the early morning hours is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service at 403-266-1234, or if you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 using case number CA25462267.
We sincerely thank our community for their ongoing support as we work to recover from this incident and continue serving photographers across Canada.
