The mysterious and ever-infatuating Vivian Maier brought back to life through stories by renowned Calgary photographer George Webber. Spend an intimate evening discussing the photographic endeavours of Vivian Maier, including a little-known story about the time Maier took a photograph here in Calgary.
Taking place during the Vivian Maier: In Her Own Hands Exhibition, George Webber will bring light to the intriguing career and artistic practice of Vivian Maier’s photography. A Chicago-based nanny, Vivian Maier took up street and travel photography in her spare time, a part of her life she barely shared with the world. Now she is celebrated as a true master. This will be an evening as unique as her story.
Salon Series: George Webber on Vivian Maier will take place on March. 18th, 2020 from 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM at the Glenbow Museum.

George Webber has been photographing the people, landscape and architecture of the Canadian west for over 40 years. His books include Requiem, A World Within, People of The Blood, Last Call, In This Place, Prairie Gothic, Badlands and Alberta Book. In 2019 he received the Doug and Lois Mitchell Outstanding Calgary Artist Award.
