Shooting video is a wonderfully intense journey. I love it. And I also hate it.
Let me explain.
I’ve been shooting photos for about twenty years now, and video for fifteen. When I first discovered RAW photography, I was completely fascinated by the sheer elasticity of an image—the fact that you could manipulate light and colour so drastically that you could turn an orange tiger purple if you wanted to. So, when I learned that hybrid cameras could shoot video, I was thrilled to do the exact same thing.
And that is exactly where the horror began.

My quest led me down perilous rabbit holes where I tackled colour spaces, bit depths, codecs, and all the funny little things your camera does to maximize image quality. The learning curve was undeniably steep, but eventually, I found my way back to the holy grail: shooting RAW video. I picked up a beautiful Sigma fp from The Camera Store, ready to finally achieve that glorious pliability I loved in my photos.
But the journey didn't end there. I quickly learned that capturing RAW video is one thing; managing it in the real world is another. A few high-stress projects later, I realized a hard truth that I want you to understand very carefully: Just because you can shoot the highest quality doesn't mean you should.
This is what my crash course at The Camera Store is about. We’ll cover exactly what settings a video camera has, and more importantly, when to use them. It’s designed to demystify the tech and cover the crucial equipment you need for your video shoot.
Having a good foundation could potentially save you months of stress (or even years!). Sign up now, spots are limited!
