Designed for underwater, outdoor and industrial photography, the WG-80 is waterproof, shockproof, and freeze-proof, with a crushproof construction. It can easily capture super-high-resolution photos and videos of outdoor adventures, whether on land or under the sea. Its rugged construction also makes the WG-80 worksite ready for capturing images in harsh conditions at construction sites and in civil engineering work.
The Ricoh WG-80 has a 16-effective megapixel back-illuminated CMOS image sensor coupled with a high-performance imaging engine, which delivers a top sensitivity of ISO 6400. It has a 5X optical zoom lens that provides coverage equivalent to approximately 28mm to 140mm in the 35mm format, triple anti-shake protection, and a large outdoor-friendly wide-frame LCD monitor.
The WG-80 has a built-in ring light with adjustable illumination levels and six LED macro lights positioned around the circumference of the lens barrel. This makes the WG-80 ideal for low-light and macro photography while also enabling extreme close-ups of coral while snorkelling and detailed shots of small parts and components on job sites. The ring light can also be used for taking selfies with the help of a self-portrait assist mode.
When it comes to underwater photography and videography, the WG-80 has enhanced underwater modes to deliver true-to-life imagery by enhancing shades of red, which are typically lost in underwater photography, while effectively compensating for the loss of contrast caused by the diffusion of light in water. The camera is waterproof to a depth of 14 meters (46 feet) for up to two hours of continuous operation.
Thanks to this heavy-duty construction, the camera performs superbly and dependably even in harsh, demanding outdoor conditions. It is shockproof against a fall from a height of 1.6 meters (5 feet), freeze-proof in temperatures as low as -10°C (14°F) and crushproof against weights up to 100kgf (kilogram-force). It also comes equipped with an outdoor-friendly LCD monitor with a brightness level that can be instantly adjusted to the lighting level of the shooting situation.
