Panasonic has introduced a new full-frame lens to their lineup! Welcome the new Lumix S 50mm F1.8! This large-aperture standard fixed focal length lens is the second addition to the series of four F1.8 large-aperture lenses based on the L-Mount system standard. It’s time to make some room in your camera bag!
The Lumix S 50mm F1.8 has nine lens elements in eight groups including three aspherical lenses, one ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lens and one UHR (Ultra-High Refractive Index) lens. It’s three aspherical lenses allow for both high descriptive performance and beautiful bokeh, which are common advantages to the series of all F1.8 lenses. The ED lens also effectively suppresses chromatic aberration. All of this makes it a great lens for all kinds of photography, from portraits to landscapes.
The Lumix S 50mm F1.8 is also an excellent video lens as it has a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing, which was a fatal problem of all interchangeable lenses designed for still image photography. With the addition of a micro-step aperture control for smooth exposure change, users can capture beautifully high-quality video.
