Introducing The New Canon EOS C50, RF85mm F1.4 L VCM & PowerShot ELPH 360 HS A

Canon has excitedly announced three new products coming our way! First up is the newest addition to Canon’s cinema EOS system, the new EOS C50 cinema camera. This compact, full-frame cinema camera features a brand new 7K full-frame CMOS sensor, 7K 60P internal RAW recording and 32 megapixel still photo capture, making it a true hybrid camera. It also only weighs one and a half pounds (680g), making it Canon’s smallest and lightest cinema camera ever. Next up is the new RF85mm F1.4 L VCM lens, a purpose-built hybrid lens designed to meet the demanding needs of both still photographers and filmmakers. Lastly, there is the newly updated PowerShot ELPH 360 HS A, a stylish and compact camera designed for capturing everyday moments with ease. Oh, wait, just when it couldn't get better, Canon also has firmware updates for EOS C400, C80, C70, and R5C cameras!

The new Canon EOS C50 features a powerful 7K full-frame CMOS sensor, supporting Dual Base ISO settings of 800 and 6400 in Canon Log 2 and offering 12-bit Cinema RAW Light recording at resolutions as high as 7K 60P. Powered by the DIGIC DV7 processor, this model debuts full-frame 3:2 open gate recording within the Cinema EOS lineup. With Cinema RAW Light, XF-AVC, XF-AVC S, and XF-HEVC S codecs, the EOS C50 provides streamlined file organization, preserves metadata, and captures in the standard MP4 format.

The camera caters to social media users by offering simultaneous crop recording when shooting in 4K DCI or UHD. This feature records a primary clip at your preferred aspect ratio and simultaneously captures a cropped section of the frame in 2K. Available aspect ratio options include 9:17, 9:16, and 1:1. For users needing connectivity options, the EOS C50 supports the XC protocol, allowing remote control over IP via Wi-Fi® or USB-C Ethernet adapters from third-party providers. Additionally, it integrates with the Multi Camera Control App and features direct support for frame.io, making camera-to-cloud workflows effortless.

Lightweight and portable, the EOS C50 caters to the growing demand for compact cinema cameras designed for diverse filming scenarios. Suitable for large productions, documentary shoots, social media videos, and sports, the EOS C50 comes with a detachable top handle. This attachment provides two XLR audio inputs, a start-stop button, and a zoom rocker, adding greater versatility for dynamic shooting needs.

Perfect for those who prefer easy-to-carry, point-and-shoot cameras, it boasts a sleek design with 12x Optical Zoom and a 20.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor combined with TTL Autofocus. Capturing crisp and vibrant photos is a breeze, thanks to its Optical Image Stabilizer, which minimizes blur for clearer shots and steadier videos. The camera also has a bright 3.0-inch LCD screen for simple framing and composition. Users can shoot Full HD videos with a maximum recording time of about 40 minutes. In the updated version, the memory card slot transitions from SD to microSD to align with evolving trends in the compact camera market.
