Fujifilm has excitedly announced the next evolution of their celebrated X-T30 series, the new Fujifilm X-T30 III! Packed with enhancements, innovative features, plus its iconic design, this camera offers photographers stunning film-inspired styles, an ever-growing lens library, reliable autofocus, and long battery life. Speaking of a growing lineup of lenses, Fujifilm also announced the new Fujinon XC 13-33mm F3.5-6.3 OIS Lens, the X Series’ smallest, most compact zoom lens, excelling in close-up focus and spanning wide-angle to standard focal lengths. Of course, Dave and Evelyn from TCSTV couldn’t wait to take this pair out for a test and share their first impressions!

At the heart of the new Fujifilm X-T30 III is a back-side illuminated 26.1-megapixel X-TransTM CMOS 4 sensor, and the latest, high-performance X-Processor 5. Improved battery efficiency extends shooting capacity to 425 frames per charge in Economy Mode. Its advanced autofocus, driven by deep-learning AI, tracks a range of subjects, from animals, birds and insects to cars, motorcycles, bicycles, airplanes, trains and drones, plus faces and eyes, with precision and ease. Videographers can harness its 6.2K/30p internal recording capability in HEVC 4:2:2 10-bit, as well as high frame rate options like 4K/60p and 1080/240p. With powerful digital image stabilization, the camera effectively handles both subtle shakes and larger movements, ensuring stable results, even in motion-intensive scenarios.
Looking at the build of the X-T30 III, it continues the tradition of compact and lightweight design, inheriting its predecessor’s ease of portability. Measuring 118.4x82.8x46.8 mm (4.66x3.26x1.84 in) and weighing 378g (13.3oz), it’s an ideal everyday camera. Its ergonomic grip offers a natural and secure hold, enhancing comfort during extended use. The AUTO mode, accessible via a dedicated top switch, intelligently analyzes scenes to fine-tune focus and exposure, simplifying the process for users to focus on capturing creative shots. The camera’s built-in flash adjusts dynamically, excelling in low light and backlit conditions, especially for portraits. With the central viewfinder positioned directly above the lens, users benefit from an intuitive and balanced perspective, evoking the tactile experience of classic film cameras while delivering modern functionality.
The central viewfinder and classic dial-based interface create a photography experience that mirrors the X-T series’ film-camera heritage. On the top plate, the Film Simulation dial offers three customizable positions (FS1-FS3) for saving the user's most-loved Film Simulation modes and selected image settings as original Film Simulation recipes. A quick turn of the dial provides instant access to these settings, ensuring adaptability for various scenes and subjects. Features like Grain Effect, Colour Tone, and Highlight adjustments allow users to refine their visual style. With 20 Film Simulations, including REALA ACE and NOSTALGIC Neg, the X-T30 III uses advanced digital colour reproduction to emulate traditional analog film aesthetics, making professional-quality results accessible to all skill levels. Additionally, the camera connects wirelessly to select instaxTM Link smartphone printers, supporting direct printing without the need for an app. Newly added compatibility with instaxTM mini, SQUARE, and WIDE formats further enhances the user experience, enabling seamless transitions from capturing moments to creating physical prints.

Next up, we have the new Fujinon XC 13-33mm F3.5-6.3 OIS. Designed to meet everyday photographic demands, it is impressively compact, measuring just 37.5mm (1.48 in) and weighing 125g (4.4oz), and when not in use, the lens body retracts, making it ideal for carrying or storage. Built with 10 elements arranged in nine groups, the lens incorporates four aspherical and three extra-low dispersion (ED) elements to effectively reduce issues like distortion, field curvature, and chromatic aberration. The nine-blade aperture achieves a more circular bokeh effect, offering beautiful soft focus effects on a wide range of scenes, including portraits, landscapes, and nightscapes.
The XC 13-33mm F3.5-6.3 OIS covers focal lengths spanning from a 13mm wide-angle (35mm equivalent: 20mm) to a 33mm standard view (35mm equivalent: 50mm), perfect for everyday use. Not only does it shine in capturing landscapes, interiors, portraits, and street scenes, with a telephoto magnification of 0.25x, but it also excels at capturing close-ups of small subjects like flowers or pets with its minimum focusing distance of 20cm (7.87 in). A 4.0-stop Optical Image Stabilization system ensures steady handheld shots in low light or with slow shutter speeds, while its autofocus, operating in as little as 0.025 seconds, delivers sharp, responsive performance across a variety of situations.
