February is known around here as the Month of Photography in Calgary. With Exposure Photo Festival comes loads of photography based events, including a bunch programmed by The Camera Store! Here is a list of our upcoming February TCS events, and there is seriously something for everyone!
Photographers Workflow and Management Workshop
Taking the time to organize your images may seem like a daunting task, but trust us, you’ll be thankful you did! Hosted by professional photojournalist, Todd Korol, who’s job revolves around being completely organized, this class will set you up for success. Covering his workflow process form beginning to end, Todd will discuss different editing software for different needs, how to efficiently edit your images and organize, as well as backing them up for additional security! Todd will also cover how to export files for various uses, so your images always look amazing!
Traveling for photography is the best of both worlds. Not only do you get to see the beauty of our world, but you get to do the thing you love, take photos! But depending on where you’re going, or what your plan (or lack of one) may be, it can make traveling a bit tough. David Wilder is a travel photography expert, all by trial and error. David is a nationally accredited, award-winning photographer who has many travel stories to tell! This seminar, full of excitement and laughs, will also give you useful tips and tricks to make your next trip a successful one. Covering topics such as choosing flights, gear restrictions, when to plan and when to go with the flow, this seminar will have you buying a plane ticket before the day is over!
Lightroom 101 for Photography Seminar
Whether you are new to Adobe Lightroom or have been using it since 2007, it is always a bonus to hear tips and tricks from someone who lives and breathes Lightroom. Calgary based photo-illustrator, Tim Nguyen of Citrus Photography is that guy! Focusing primarily on the Library and Develop modules, Tim will help you make the most of your JPEG and RAW files, organize them for future use, and help them stay sorted and safe! Tim will walk you through the functionality of Lightroom, making it your new favourite software!
Look at photography in a new light, or rather, the darkness. Star chaser and Calgary based photographer, Monika Deviat, specializes in night photography. Monika will tell the tale of how she got into night photography, stories from the adventures, some of which she did alone. She will also inspire and teach you how to embrace the darkness with gear recommendations, tips for traveling in the dark, and how to capture those stunning, starry images. Embrace the darkness and open your eyes to the beauty of the night sky!
After meeting some amazing photographers over the first two weeks of Exposure Photo Fest, come relax at O.T Brewing to socialize and swap some photos! Partnered with Exposure, we are hosting a fun evening of beer, photography, and conversation. Bring a friend, meet new friends, maybe even a new love? We are talking about the love of beer at O.T of course! Bring a few prints to swap with other photographers and spend your Valentine’s hanging out with fellow photographers!
Designed for those who are either new to photography, have a new camera, or need a refresher, The Camera Store’s Intro to Photography is the perfect, low stress, class! Taught by own staff, you know you’ll be getting an excellent education! With an overview of your camera’s features, plus detailed information on key components, you’ll be ready to take your camera anywhere!
