Throughout the last year, we have experienced a lot of change. Thanks to some outstanding, Canadian photojournalists, our fear and courage, pain, strength, and resilience were captured through photographs. The News Photographers Association of Canada (NPAC) is recognizing and rewarding these photojournalist’s hard work with the country’s best photojournalism of 2020 for the 14th Annual National Pictures of the Year (NPOY) awards competition.
This striking collection consists of 2,000 photographs and 22 multimedia productions from 135 photographers and videographers across Canada. All of these nominated photographs can be viewed at the NPAC 2020 National Pictures of the Year Finalists page, or in-person during the Capture Photography Festival at the Pendulum Gallery in Vancouver, British Columbia from March 29 – April 23, 2021, (Covid safety measures will be in place).
The winners of each category, including the prestigious Photojournalist of the Year and Photograph of the Year, will be announced on March 28, 2021!
