Restart more than just your body, restart your soul, your creativity. Join Dianne Bos and Sarah Fuller from the Institue of Unusual Studies for their low-tech workshop in Léran, Occitanie, France; 20/20 Visions: Weaving Together Photographic Practices.
In the beautiful, history-rich Occitanie, France, lies Léran. Where the Touyre river calmly flows through from the Pyreneés, this was the site of many textile mills and other craft industries. A great place for creative inspiration and rejuvenation.
Challenge yourself to think of the ways your artistic practice interweaves with the land, materials and photographic processes during this week-long, photo-based workshop.
Exploring low-tech photography techniques in traditional silver gelatin and historical processes, participants are encouraged to explore the river’s history alongside the rich craft and textile history in the area. With field trips to local flea markets to source linens, local fibres and ephemera for photo-based printing, and a field trip to the Musée du Textile et du Peigne en Corn in nearby Lavelanet, for added inspiration.
The workshop can also support black and white film and print technology, pinhole photography, digital negatives printing, Cyanotypes, Cyanotype toning and Van Dyke print processes. Additional support in digital camera operation, pinhole camera construction, and large format film developing are also available.
This workshop includes a small class size, with two instructors, stay at the beautiful B&B L’Impasse du Temple, outstanding French cuisine, a working darkroom with all the needed supplies, field trips and more!
