It’s that time of year again! The Consulate-General of Japan in Calgary’s 11th Annual Japan Photo Contest is now open for submissions! Fostering interest in Japanese culture and to further promote understanding between Japan and Canada, the 2025-2025 Japan Photo Contest is an excellent opportunity to show your love of photography and Japanese culture!
The 11th Annual Japan Photo Contest is open to all creatives who live in Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, North West Territories and Nunavut. With a chance to win an outstanding assortment of prizes, including the Nikon Canada Grand Prize of a Nikon Z50II 16-50mm Lens Kit, plus a variety of excellent prizes from The Camera Store, and other sponsors, this is a fabulous and fun opportunity!
The 2025 Japan Photo Contest has four categories. Each person can submit a maximum of four photographs (one per category). Photos taken in Japan or Canada (with a Japan-related theme/subject) are welcome!
Remember, one of the main goals of the Contest is to promote awareness of various aspects of Japan’s culture while continuing to foster a positive relationship between Japan and Canada.

- Omotenashi / Hospitality
- History
