The XF605 Professional Camcorder is the next-generation XF-series camera providing excellent mobility, connectivity, and superb 4K UHD HDR image quality. Equipped with Canon’s renowned Dual Pixel CMOS AF, the XF605 achieves high-speed and high-accuracy focusing, and is the first XF-series model to include Eye Detection AF, as well as iTR AF X technology for improved face and head detection for more accurate and stable tracking of subjects.
The XF605 features a 4K L-series 15x Optical Zoom lens with 3-ring manual control. XF605 can shoot 10-bit 4:2:2 4K UHD footage in XF-AVC and MP4 formats to dual SD cards for easy post-production and quick delivery. It features multiple recording modes including Frame, Interval, and Slow and Fast motion up to 120fps in FHD.
An ideal tool for news gathering, XF605 features a new CTM (Content Transfer Mobile) iPhone application which allows for proxy footage, audio, and metadata to be exchanged between a newsroom server through the phone connection in the field and integrates into newsroom assignment planning software.
The XF605 features a Multi-Function Shoe that is compatible with a new XLR microphone adapter (developed by TEAC Corporation) for increasing the total number of XLR inputs to 4, providing a flexible audio recording workflow.
The camera features built-in Wi-Fi/Ethernet for Browser Remote, CTM (Content Transfer Mobile) app, IP streaming, and FTP transfer. The camera is also the first XF-series camera to feature USB Video Class allowing use as a webcam without the need for a 3rd Party HDMI to USB adapter.
1.0-inch 4K UHD CMOS Sensor
The XF605 Professional Camcorder features a Canon 1.0-inch 4K UHD CMOS image sensor capable of 4K UHD video capture at 60p and slow motion recording up to 120fps in Full HD, making the camcorder a strong contender for professional productions, ENG applications and more.
The XF605 camcorder's 1.0-inch sensor allows for larger photosites compared to smaller-sized sensors, resulting in improved images with less noise in low-light situations. The larger sensor also exhibits a shallower depth of field at large apertures, providing greater depth of field control and creative options. The camcorder's DIGIC DV 7 imaging engine further enhances the high sensitivity and low noise performance of the camcorder.
4K UHD 59.94P 4:2:2 10-bit Recording
The XF605 Professional Camcorder supports 4K UHD 59.94p 4:2:2 10-bit recording to support natural and realistic 4K video production. Users can choose between MXF-based XF-AVC and versatile MP4 formats.
DIGIC DV 7 Image Processor
The XF605 features Canon's DIG!C DV7 image processor that takes the extensive RAW information captured from the imaging sensor and processes it for output. DiG!C is also the engine behind features such as high frame rate recording, Dual Pixel CMOS Autofocus, HDR (PQ/HLG) output, and proxy recording.
HDR Recording with HLG/PQ Shooting Assist
The XF605 Professional Camcorder supports HDR recording in Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) and Perceptual Quantization (PQ) formats. This helps ensure full color rendition and wide latitude with a much greater range from black to pure white – ideal for the delivery of live streams, broadcasts, and post-production projects. The XF605 also features a variety of assist functions to support auto/manual exposure control during HDR shooting, allowing users to record HDR video using their usual shooting methods.
Canon Log 3
Designed with creative post-processing in mind, Canon Log 3 is a gamma designed for simple grading at a deep level for toning up dark areas and adjusting color tone/gradation to make noise less noticeable. By shooting in Canon Log 3, users can manipulate the information that's recorded, from dark areas to highlights. This makes the range for color grading wider and enables video to be produced with generous latitude that couldn't be reproduced with video gammas. Simple previews can also be performed on-site with Look-Up Table (LUT) accuracy.
Canon Log 3 shooting can be especially effective for documentaries and other settings with drastic changes, along with outdoor and other locations where light conditions change frequently, or where monitoring setups may be insufficient.
Wide DR Gamma (800%) Support
The XF605 Professional Camcorder supports Wide DR Gamma. For natural and realistic-looking image capture that faithfully represents the scene at hand, Wide DR Gamma achieves a wide dynamic range of 800% to produce almost seamless tone gradations, resulting in smooth detail and virtually no blown-out highlights, all without requiring post-production.
Dual Pixel CMOS AF and Eye Detection AF
Canon's Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology uses every pixel on the imaging sensor to detect focus and to capture actual image information, offering users high precision focusing and exceptional image quality.
The XF605 is the first XF-series camera to feature Eye Detection AF which further increases the accuracy of focus on human subjects.
